SPECIAL LANGUAGE - FINE ART ON PAPER

ORIGINAL - A work composed for the first time ever, considered a one- of-a-kind. Original work may be created on various surfaces such as canvas or paper and can be created using one medium or mixed media.

LIMITED EDITION - A predetermined number of impressions to be made from a plate, after which no additional impressions are made and the plates are destroyed.

SIGNED AND NUMBERED - At the bottom of each print in an edition, the artist pencils in his signature and numbers the print.  The numbering for example, appears as: 15/30. This indicates that this was the 15th print to be signed and that there are 30 prints in the edition..

ARTIST'S PROOF - One of the first impressions printed after the artist has made adjustments.  The artist's proof are the standard for the remaining prints.

SERIGRAPHY - Also known as silk-screening or screen printing, it is a stencil process for producing multiple original pieces of artwork.  The screen may be made of polyester, nylon or silk.   The design is blocked off by opaque material and the remaining open screen allows paint to pass through in order to deposit an image on the paper.
